I visited Embankment in March 2020, and there were a number of stairs in the station - see below, and also at the river side entrance. Once outside, I declined to walk the stairs up onto the River Thames bridge, and did discover alternatives to accessing this bridge. The best way was via the entrance to Charing Cross station, a long way round, but hey ho. There are also escalators (for non-wheelchair users) in the Arches which bring you up to this level, this is just opposite the Princess of Wales, in Villiers street.

Underground lines : Circle, District, Northern.

Accessibility friendly : Embankment is not accessible to wheelchair users due to stairs between the platforms and street level.

Escalator access between street and Northern line northbound platform only, towards Camden Town.

General description :

I visited the Embankment today, in October 2021, and again on 4th May 2023. I wanted to get to Charing Cross. I arrived on the Circle line from Tower Hill (which has lifts to the platforms). To exit the station at Embankment, I needed to climb about 30 steps; it is the same for both Circle / District platforms.
The Bakerloo similarly has about 25 steps either direction.
The Northern line has two escalators, plus a further 6 steps.

At the top, and well out of breath, I could see the escalator which desecended into the Northern line, the new Bank station on the Northern line is now very accessible with lifts or escalators. Bank station is a good choice to join the DLR, and also the Central line if able to walk down escalators.
